Parents Centre
Our Parents Centre offers four core services to members:
|
From meetings to conferences and everything in between – comfortably fits 60 seated conference style, or use the couches for a more informal setting. Projector and full kitchen facilities available.
Childbirth EducationParents attending Childbirth Education classes are making some of the most important decisions they will ever make in their lives. These decisions impact on the health and well-being of their baby, themselves and their relationships.
The role of the Childbirth Educator is to provide as much clear, well researched, and relevant information as possible. Through facilitated group discussion the Childbirth Educator will enable exploration of options and choices, challenge myths and offer a vast range of information around choices available to new parents. |
Parent SupportParenting is vastly different in the 21st century, and constantly evolving with new international research, ideas and products. But it's not just parenting that is changing, so is the way we access information. Today's parents are busy and need accessible and reliable sources of parenting information. You will find it here, and you can be assured that it is the latest and best advice around.
Come to us as your source of credible, well researched and up to date information and the empathetic support from those who know and understand the challenges and triumphs of parenting. |
Parent EducationOne of the most compelling distinctions of our Parents Centre is the free parent education programme.
Parent Centre education is very practical. The adult education courses are facilitated discussions with other Parent Centre members. They provide ideas and learning that can be applied at home as well as at Parent Centre, and also help new families get to know each other. For many parents, adult education gives them confidence not only in their parenting abilities, but also in their ability to learn and contribute. |
Advocacy LobbyingThere are many organisations and groups around the country that you can get in touch with for practical support, advice, resources and contact details of specialists.
It is really valuable to be able to talk with people who understand what it's like to parent a child with special education needs. These organisations and groups provide support to parents. Some of them also have databases of their members so if you're looking for a specialist in your area they may be able to help with this. |
