Parents attending Pregnancy, Childbirth and Early parenting sessions are making some of the most important decisions they will ever make in their lives. These decisions impact on the health and well-being of their baby, themselves and their relationships.
Purposes of Childbirth Education Classes
There are many reasons for which parents come to childbirth education classes.
Some of the reasons may be:
Style of Learning
Parents Centre sessions are based on participatory education. You will be asked what you want from the sessions as it is important to meet your needs. Your Pregnancy, Childbirth & Early parenting Educator will use a variety of teaching techniques and small group work in order to give you the opportunity to discuss your own expectations, explore alternatives and work out solutions that best meet your own needs. They also give you extra time beyond the breaks to mix with other group members which allows you to get to know them better.
Role of the Pregnancy, Childbirth & Early Parenting Educator
Your Educator is:
Parents Centre volunteers may assist your Educator during the course. Again, it is not their role to provide you with advice although they will be very happy to discuss any issues you wish to raise and to share their parenting experiences with you.
Your sessions
Sessions are held at the Gore Kids Hub, 13 Wayland Street, Gore.
Wednesday's: 7-9pm (over 6 weeks.)
Our qualified carseat technician will give a short presentation during one of your sessions and be available to answer any questions you may have.
Cost
FREE, thanks to our annual Winter Fete fundraiser.

- To develop practical parenting skills
- To explore and share feelings, experiences and attitudes with others in the same situation
- To develop friendships and establish support networks

- The facilitator who directs activities and interaction between class participants and encourages self-reliance and confidence
